Our name is inspired by Matthew 5:41. In the Roman Empire, a soldier could legally compel a citizen to carry his heavy pack for one mile. It was an obligation, often met with resentment. However, Jesus called His followers to go further — to carry the load a Second Mile, not out of duty, but out of a spirit of service and love.
